In 1994 Geoffrey Bodine, NASCAR Driver, and former Daytona 500 winner, watched as the USA Bodsled Team finished well out of the medals.
The USA team had the coaching, the athletes and the drivers to be contenders. All they needed was sled technology.
An idea was born.
Geoff partnered with Chassis Dynamics and Whelen Engineering to build a bobsled for USA athletes. This partnership became the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project.
Today the USA World Cup Bobsleigh team is finishing among the top sleds at most events, and competing for the Gold consistently. But the Germans, the Swiss and other top teams continue to develop their own technology. With a goal of bringing home Gold Medals from Vancouver in 2010, the testing and development of sled technology for our USA athletes continues.
The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project needs donations from individuals and sponsorships from corporations to continue this work. This is an easy way for you or your company to be part of a winning Olympic team.
When asked why he continues in his efforts after thirteen years of work, Bob Cuneo, lead designer of the Bobsled Project and owner of Chassis Dynamics, had this to say, "I always watched the Olympics when I was a boy and dreamed about being up there…when I see our bobsled athletes on the podium it is like it is me up there."
