NASCAR and the NHRA and a television crew from SPEED will gather January 3-5, 2008 at one of the world's premier Winter Olympic venues, Lake Placid, NY, for the third annual Chevy Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering. These drivers will pilot modified bobsleds on the same, yet slightly shorter, course as the world's top bobsledders. The auto racers will be asked to negotiate a three-quarter mile, 17-turn track with speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour.
The real challenge though, is to raise funding to continue research and development for the USA's bobsled teams.Geoff Bodine has teamed with Bob Cuneo of Connecticut-based Chassis Dynamics, to build bobsleds that have since won four Olympic medals in the past two Winter Olympics, many World Cup races and threatens the European stronghold each season on the World Cup tour. The money raised from the challenge event goes to helping the USA bobsled athletes will gold.
SPEED will provide four hours of coverage from the event.Qualifying results will air on January 20, 2008. The finals will air January 27 after the 24 Hours of Daytona broadcast.">Drivers include Geoff Bodine, Boris Said, Morgan Lucas, J.R. Todd, Jeg Coughlin Jr., Ron Hornaday, Joey Logano, Todd Bodine, Steve Carlson, Donny Lia and L.W. Miller.
"This event has gotten our attention," said Robert Ecker, Vice President of Programming for SPEED. "With the NASCAR affiliation, the Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge intrigues us and fits our programming target.

What a wonderful event this has become as we enter our third year of support. Once again we will be in Lake Placid for all of the events and looking forward to the dinner on Friday night. For those out there 'thinking' about going - Just Do It!! It is a fantastic 'Feel Good' event that supports a very worthy cause - AMERICAN BOBSLEDDING.
We look forward to seeing everyone again.
